About the Conference

The International Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues of the Global Economy” is held annually by the Department of International Economic Relations of the Faculty of Economics, RUDN University. In 2026 the conference takes place for the 28th time.

The conference builds on the research tradition of the Department’s scientific school “National Interests and Foreign Economic Security of Countries”. Together with the research seminar of the same name and a regularly published collection of scientific papers, it forms the Department’s integrated research infrastructure: the seminar serves throughout the year as a venue for discussing interim results, while the conference presents them to the wider academic community.

Topics

The plenary session and panels address the current state of the world economy and the system of international economic relations. Recent years have focused on economic cooperation among BRICS+ countries, integration processes across the CIS and the EAEU, and the national interests and foreign economic security of states amid the transformation of the global economy. Each year’s agenda reflects current challenges of the world economy while remaining closely linked to the research areas of the scientific school.

Participants

The conference brings together leading Russian and international scholars, practitioners and representatives of partner universities from the regions of Russia, the CIS and beyond — above all from BRICS and SCO countries, Africa and Asia. A dedicated track offers early-career researchers — doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s students — an opportunity to present their research results.

Publications

A collection of scientific papers is published following the conference. Authors of promising studies are invited to publish in the journals affiliated with the Department — RUDN Journal of Economics and BRICS+.
